Some of the best fantasy webtoons/Mangas to read

It’s been a while since I last posted some awesome romance webtoon/manga recommendations, so obviously I needed to do another post to recommend some more awesome fantasy webtoons/mangas.

Webtoons and/or mangas are my favorite things to read when I’m too tired or burnt out to read, well, paragraphs. Webtoons are so easy to read—all you have to do is scroll. They’re super accessible because they’re free, no money required.

And the art is mangas is beautiful, expressive, and sometimes super hilarious.

Here are some of the best fantasy webtoons/mangas to read:

The Wolfman of Wulvershire

The Wolfman of Wulvershire Manga/Webtoon/Manhwa

Triggers Warnings for The Wolfman of Wulvershire

Gore, Assault

Synopsis

Lady Carina would rather be single forever than become a baby factory for any man. So when she shows up at the Duke of Wulvershire’s annual Spring Fling wine and dine, everyone is taken aback — but not as much as the ensuing series of murders!

Will Carina survive, and, more importantly, will she find herself a handsome husband? But … what if he’s hiding the worst secret of all time?

My Thoughts on The Wolfman of wulvershire

A sassy female lead who doesn’t take sexism and egoism from anyone—Check.

A sexy male lead keeping secrets of his own—Check.

The right balance of romance, mystery, and mayhem—Check, check, and check.

What more could you want?

I Love My Cyborg

I love my cyborg Manga/Webtoon/Manhwa

Genres/Categories

Sci-fi, Romance

Trigger Warnings for I Love My Cyborg

Gore, assault

Synopsis

When Hazel falls for the handsome but sullen Clive Westdale, she has no idea he harbors a dark secret. Now she must assist him in escaping the clutches of an evil doctor whose work blurs not only the line between man and machine but also between life and death!

My Thoughts on I Love My Cyborg

I Love My Cyborg is probably one of the weirdest webtoons I’ve read. But I loved the direction the story took. It’s a historical romance coupled with some light fantasy/sci-fi themes. The art style shows a lot of 1930s fashion which I loved. And I Love My Cyborg is quite short, so you can read it only one sitting.

The Wrath and the Dawn

The wrath and the Dawn Manga/Webtoon/Manhwa

Genres/Categories

Fantasy, Retelling of the Arabian Nights, Romance

Triggers Warnings for The Wrath And the Dawn

Murder, suicide, manipulation, death.

Synopsis

Every night, Caliph Khalid takes a new bride, only to have her executed at sunrise. So Shahrzad’s willingness to marry Khalid comes as a surprise.

However, Shahrzad has devised an ingenious plan to not only stay alive but also to put an end to the murderous King’s reign of terror once and for all.

My Thoughts

The Wrath and the Dawn is an Arabian Nights retelling. I used my daily fast pass on these series and all the coins I had to unlock further episodes because it is incredible.

The Wrath and the Dawn has one of the truest uses of the enemies-to-lovers trope because our main leads are actually out for each other’s blood but soon find themselves warming up to and falling in love with each other.

I loved witnessing that journey from the first episode when both their walls were up high, but slowly they started crumbling down. If you want a fantasy with a high-stakes plot and lots of action, this one’s for you.

The Wrath and The Dawn webtoon is based on its namesake novel written by Renée Ahdieh, and it’s part of a series, so if you’re interested, you can check the books out too!

Zatanna and the Ripper

Zatanna and the Ripper Manga/Webtoon/Manhwa

Genres/Categories

Crime, Murder Mystery, Romance, Magical Realism

Trigger Warnings for Zatanna and The ripper

Serial murders, gore, assault, kidnapping, manipulation

Synopsis

On her 21st birthday, Zatanna Zatara, the world’s most talented magician’s assistant, is attacked and defeated by a mysterious sorceress.

Before the final blow is delivered, her father, Giovanni, casts his spell, warping his opponent’s magic and throwing Zatanna out of the frying pan and into the garbage bin.

In the year 1888, Zatanna arrived in Whitechapel, London. She soon discovers Jack the Ripper, a serial killer roaming the city’s streets.

Unable to return home and certain that the supernatural killer has answers, Zatanna joins the denizens of Whitechapel and one John Constantine in pursuit of the Ripper.

My Thoughts on Zatanna and The ripper

Who wouldn’t want to time travel to the era of a notorious, bloodthirsty serial killer in London?

Me. I wouldn’t want to do that.

But I have no problem reading about it!

Zatanna and the Ripper has everything you could want in a fantasy/mystery webtoon. There’s chaos (which for me is a complete must in this genre), a mild romance, wild sleuthing, and then some.

Not to mention, Zatanna is a crazy spy. I wouldn’t want to be her enemy. She is a fierce character that you will adore. If you’re a DC fan, Zatanna and The Ripper is a must-read.

Winter Woods

Winter woods Manga/Webtoon/Manhwa

Genres/Categories

Fantasy, Romance

Trigger Warnings for Winter Woods

Sexual assault, kidnapping, emotional abuse, manipulation, ableism

Synopsis

Winter was created by an alchemist thousands of years ago. Winter agrees to live with writer Jane in exchange for telling her his story.

Winter learns the meaning of being human through their interactions, and Jane, without realizing it, begins to see a man who has changed her life in more ways than she could have imagined.

My Thoughts on Winter woods

Winter Woods is by the creator of my favorite fantasy webtoon, Mystical. I’ve mentioned Mystical in this blog post here, do check it out!

One of the things I loved about Mystical was how everything from the romance to the mystery plot was balanced. Nothing felt out-of-order. The same holds true for Winter Woods. It is overflowing with mutual pining, mystery, suspicion, and sometimes even sadness.

Winter Woods is a webtoon you can read again and again. And of course, the art style is magical and very fitting for the title and plot.
